The Kansas City Roos men’s and women’s basketball teams got a double dose of frustration against Oral Roberts on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, the Roos women’s team lost 77-66 to the Golden Eagles in Tulsa. Five Kansas City players scored in double figures for the first time in a year, but their late comeback attempt fell short.

The Roos committed 25 turnovers, leading to 29 ORU points. The Roos are now 11-4 (1-3 Summit League), while ORU improved to 8-8 (3-2).

KC forward Brooklyn McDavid led all scorers with 14 points, adding six rebounds and two steals.

In an evening men’s Summit League game at the Swinney Center, Kansas City kept it close through halftime, when Oral Roberts led by just four, 36-32, but couldn’t catch the visitors in the second half and lost 84-72.

Marvin Nesbitt Jr. led a trio of Roos in double figures with 19 points and added nine rebounds. Evan Gilyard II scored 18 for the Roos, who fell to 8-7 (2-2).

Oral Roberts (12-6, 6-1) got a game-high 26 points from Max Abmas. Four other Golden Eagles scored in double figures.
