Orange County Firefighters Rescue 2 People Trapped in Floodwaters

Firefighters executed swift-water rescues amid heavy rains and flooding in Southern California on Thursday, February 1.

Footage posted to Facebook by the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) shows two separate rescues that occurred in Santa Ana on Thursday.

In the first rescue, a man is seen trapped in a flood-control channel. OCFA firefighters use a raft to pull the man to safety.

In the second rescue, OCFA firefighters are seen utilizing a helicopter to rescue a man trapped in the bed of the Santa Ana River, local news reports said.

“As you can see, with the heavy rain, the channels are going to fill up quickly, with the water moving at a dangerous speed,” said OCFA on X. “Please stay clear of bodies of water.”
