This event aligned with the 33rd annual National African American Read-In.
The Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English established the read-in in 1990 to highlight African American books and authors during February.
OCLS said the read-in events reached over 6 million people worldwide.
Local luminaries shared their favorite pieces of diverse literature at the Library Central main stage, including songwriter Nkosinathi “Nathi” Gcabashe, WMFE host Talia Blake and Channel 9 reporter Phylicia Ashley.
Rep. Maxwell Frost and Orange County Mayor Demings were also in attendance.
