Orange County organizations learn how to qualify for portion of tourism development tax

·1 min read

Organizations across Orange County learned Wednesday how to get a piece of the millions of tourism development tax pie.

To qualify for the money, organizations must show how the project and events will attract tourists, a clear, realistic objective and a positive record to get the job done.

On Wednesday, the Orlando Dreamers, the Mennello Museum of American Art and the Orange County Regional History Center presented why they deserve a portion of the funds.

The TDT board let the organizations know that it’s not just a check handover. During the year, they’ll have to present visitation numbers, how goals were accomplished, and pass audits.

The process ends with TDT board making recommendations to the county commissioners who then allocate the money.
