Orange County providing sandbags, lowering water levels ahead of Subtropical Storm Nicole

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said the county is working on preparations ahead of Subtropical Storm Nicole.

Demings said the county is lowering water levels in areas where flooding is a known issue after Hurricane Ian, including near Orlo Vista, and is making sandbags available on Tuesday.

Sandbags will be available from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at:

  • Downey Park – 10107 Flowers Avenue, Orlando

  • Fort Christmas Historical Park – 1300 Fort Christmas Road, Christmas

  • Clarcona Horse Park/Clarcona Outpost – 3535 Damen Road, Apopka

  • Multicultural Center – 7149 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando

Demings said a decision on whether any school closures will be necessary will be made on Tuesday.
