Oregon COVID-9 Testing Site At Expo Center Reopens After Dog Show

PORTLAND, OR —It's not important who let the dogs out. What matters is that they're gone.

The COVID-19 testing site at the Expo Center is back open after a long weekend break. The Rose City Classic Dog Show forced the testing to stop from Wednesday through Sunday.

Now that the dogs are gone and the place has been cleaned, the site is back to testing.

There is one other change.

The testing had been set up by OHSU in March 2020, soon after the pandemic began. The Oregon Health Authority has taken over management of the site.

OHA hopes to conduct at least 500 tests a day there. The center will be open from 7 a.m. through 7 p.m. Appointments are not needed.

Meanwhile, OHSU has set up two new sites: one at the South Waterfront campus and one at Marquam Hill.

Vaccinations and boosters will be available at both sites.

The additional testing sites are essential for the state as it struggles to meet Governor Brown's vow to get one million more people boosted by the end of the month.

As of Friday, the state was sill 571,408 short of the goal.
