Oregon Ducks football cornerback Jaylin Davies enters transfer portal

Oregon has had several players transfer this offseason.

A week before the start of spring practices, another player has decided to entertain other options.

Oregon freshman cornerback Jaylin Davies has entered the transfer portal. On3 first reported the news on Davies, who registered three tackles in 2021 as a true freshman.

A consensus four-star recruit and top-18 cornerback nationally by Rivals (No. 6), ESPN (No. 10), the 247Sports composite (No. 10) and 247Sports (No. 18), Davies was rated in the top 200 nationally overall by Rivals (No. 104), the 247Sports Composite (No. 141) and ESPN (No. 156). He was also a consensus top-20 player from California by Rivals (No. 8), the 247 composite (No. 13), ESPN (No. 14) and 247Sports (No. 20).

After Mykael Wright declared for the 2022 NFL Draft and DJ James entered the transfer portal, Davies received more playing time in Oregon's Alamo Bowl loss to Oklahoma.

The Duck secondary has been hurt significantly with the loss of Wright, James and now Davies. However, Oregon did add some cornerback depth with Jalil Tucker, Jahlil Florence and Khamari Terrell during the 2022 recruiting cycle. The team also added Colorado transfer Christian Gonzalez in January.
