Oregon Ducks make strong push for RB Jordan James, 4-star Georgia Bulldogs commit

With about a week remaining before National Signing Day, the Oregon Ducks are making it known that they really want to sign 4-star running back Jordan James, who has a verbal commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs but has visited numerous schools — including Eugene — over the past several weeks.

James, a 5-foot-10, 210-pound back who ranks as the No. 16 RB in the 2022 class and No. 191 player in the nation, comes from Oakland High School in Tennessee, and verbally committed to Georgia in March of 2021. However, he has since been on two official visits to Oregon in the month of January and is scheduled to visit the Florida Gators this coming weekend.

Earlier this week, Oregon RB coach Carlos Locklyn visited James in-home for one last time before the recruiting period ends.

At this point, though James is yet to officially de-commit from the defending national champions, it seems that his recruitment is very much open. When you also consider the fact that the Bulldogs recently offered 3-star RB Andrew Paul, who is considered one of the fastest-rising prospects in the 2022 class, it might portend to them expecting James to back off of his commitment.

The Ducks have also offered a scholarship to Paul, who was initially expected to take an official visit to Eugene this weekend but is now rumored to be heading to Athens to check out Sanford Stadium instead.

Regardless of which RB Oregon ends up with out of the two, if any, it’s hard to be disappointed with the outcome. It is pretty clear, though, after the departure of both CJ Verdell and Travis Dye, that the Ducks need to add some depth to the backfield and sign one of these highly-touted prospects in the 2022 class.
