AUBURN — Auburn football has added another quarterback out of the transfer portal to pad its 2022 depth.

And it completes a trade under center with Oregon.

Robby Ashford committed to Auburn on Monday night, joining Texas A&M transfer Zach Calzada in offensive coordinator Austin Davis’ list of offseason quarterback acquisitions.

An alum of Hoover High School, Ashford was a four-star 2020 recruit, in the top 300 overall of 247Sports Composite ranking. The 6-foot-4, 219-pound quarterback didn't play for Oregon last season, leaving him with four years of eligibility. In high school, he was teammates with Georgia receiver George Pickens.

Auburn’s three-year starter, Bo Nix, transferred to Oregon in December. Ashford is the third Oregon player to transfer to Auburn since the season ended, joining defensive lineman Jayson Jones and cornerback D.J. James. Ashford and Nix matched up as quarterbacks in high school.
