Oregon State Beavers 2023 football schedule announced
The Pac-12 football schedules for the 2023 season were released Wednesday morning, as Oregon State will try to build on its 10-3 record this past fall.
The Beavers finished the season ranked No. 17 in the AP poll, their highest final ranking since 2000.
Below is a look at Oregon State’s schedule, including a way-too-early prediction for each contest. Their off week is the week of Oct. 21.
Game 1: at San Jose State (Sept. 2)
About the game: San Jose State went 7-5 this past season, but that included a 6-0 record at home. They were far better at Spartan Stadium than they were on the road, and this game is at Spartan Stadium. Also, the Beavers likely will be starting a new quarterback for the first time, whether it be DJ Uiagalelei or Aidan Chiles. All that said, expect Oregon State to win fairly easily.
Where: Spartan Stadium, San Jose, California
Prediction: Oregon State 35, San Jose State 17
Game 2: vs. UC Davis (Sept. 9)
About the game: UC Davis went 6-5 last season, including 2-4 on the road. They faced one Pac-12 opponent, at Cal, and lost 34-13. UC Davis is coached by former Willamette coach Dan Hawkins. Expect the Beavers to roll in the home opener.
Where: Reser Stadium, Corvallis
Prediction: Oregon State 58, UC Davis 13
Game 3: vs. San Diego State (Sept. 16)
About the game: San Diego State went 7-6, and lost the Hawaii Bowl to Middle Tennessee 25-23. They went 2-3 on the road. They faced two Pac-12 opponents, home against Arizona and at Utah, and lost both games, 38-20 and 35-7, respectively.
Where: Reser Stadium, Corvallis
Prediction: Oregon State 42, San Diego State 20
Game 4: at Washington State (Sept. 23)
About the game: The Cougars went 7-6 last season, but struggled after a 4-1 start. Washington State lost the LA Bowl 29-6 to Fresno State and went 4-3 at home. Oregon State beat the Cougars 24-10 last season at Reser Stadium. This time in Pullman, expect a closer game, but still an edge to the Beavers.
Where: Martin Stadium, Pullman, Washington
Prediction: Oregon State 27, Washington State 24
Game 5: vs. Utah (Sept. 29)
About the game: Utah is the two-time defending Pac-12 champion. The Utes went 10-4 last season and beat the Beavers 42-16 in Salt Lake City. Utah was 3-3 on the road, and this time Oregon State gets them at Reser Stadium. Expect a close game with the edge going to the Beavers.
Where: Reser Stadium, Corvallis
Prediction: Oregon State 24, Utah 20
Game 6: at California (Oct. 7)
About the game: The Bears went 4-8 last season, including 4-3 at home. But they ended the season losing seven of their last eight games. Oregon State beat Cal 38-10 last season in Corvallis. Expect this game to be closer throughout, but with the Beavers pulling away late.
Where: Memorial Stadium, Berkeley, California
Prediction: Oregon State 24, California 13
Game 7: vs. UCLA (Oct. 14)
About the game: The Bruins went 9-4 last season, but struggled down the stretch, losing three of their last four games. They didn’t face the Beavers. UCLA will likely start five-star Dante Moore at quarterback. He’s talented, but he’ll be a true freshman. Expect it to be a high-scoring game, with the edge to Oregon State.
Where: Reser Stadium, Corvallis
Prediction: Oregon State 37, UCLA 33
Game 8: at Arizona (Oct. 28)
About the game: The Wildcats return a veteran starting quarterback in Jayden DeLaura. Arizona went 5-7, but looked impressive in a 34-28 win against UCLA and 45-37 loss to USC. Expect a high-scoring game in the desert, with a slight advantage to Arizona.
Where: Arizona Stadium, Tucson, Arizona
Prediction: Arizona 34, Oregon State 30
Game 9: at Colorado (Nov. 4)
About the game: The Buffaloes went 1-11 last season, and they lost 42-9 at Oregon State. But with Deion Sanders running the show now, nobody knows what to expect. But it’ll likely take a couple years to really turnaround a 1-11 team. Expect a tight game, with the edge going to the Beavers on the road.
Where: Folsom Field, Boulder, Colorado
Prediction: Oregon State 28, Colorado 27
Game 10: vs. Stanford (Nov. 11)
About the game: Stanford went 3-9 last season, including 1-5 on the road with a win at Notre Dame. Oregon State edged Stanford 28-27 on the road. Stanford is going through big changes with longtime coach David Shaw resigning, and Troy Taylor taking over. Expect the Beavers to win easily at home.
Where: Reser Stadium, Corvallis
Prediction: Oregon State 35, Stanford 17
Game 11: vs. Washington (Nov. 18)
About the game: The Huskies went 11-2 this past season, beating Texas 27-20 in the Alamo Bowl. Washington was 3-2 on the road. The Huskies narrowly beat Oregon State at Husky Stadium. This time, expect another close game in Corvallis, with a slight edge going to the Beavers.
Where: Reser Stadium, Corvallis
Prediction: Oregon State 34, Washington 28
Game 12: at Oregon (Nov. 24)
About the game: The Ducks went 10-3 this past season, including 5-1 at home, with the only loss coming to Washington 37-34. Oregon State beat Oregon this past season 38-34 at Reser Stadium in a big comeback. Expect another close game, this time in Eugene, with the slight edge going to the Ducks.
Where: Autzen Stadium, Eugene
Prediction: Oregon 35, Oregon State 31
