Homecoming for Arizona State on Saturday wasn't a pleasant one on the football field as Oregon State routed ASU 31-7 in Tempe.

The Beavers outscored ASU 24-0 after Arizona State tied the score 7-7 late in the first half on what turned out to be ASU's lone score of the game.

Oregon State had 443 yards of total offense. ASU had 276.

ASU QB Trenton Bourguet was just 20-for-32 passing for 122 yards for an average of 3.8 yards per pass.

The Sun Devils fared better on the ground, rushing for 154 yards and 6.2 yards per attempt on 25 carries in the game.

Ben Gulbranson beat Arizona State with his arm and his legs, rushing for 36 yards on nine carries, with a touchdown and passing for 188 yards and a touchdown, going 15-for-21 on his attempts.

Damien Martinez had 22 carries for 138 yards and two touchdowns for the Beavers.

Xazavian Valladay was a bright spot for ASU on the ground, rushing for 109 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.

Oregon State's defense smothered Arizona State's offense in the second half.

ASU had just 70 total yards in the second half after have 206 in the first half.

The Sun Devils passed for just 22 yards in the second half.

ASU rushed for just 48 yards in the second half.

The Sun Devils fell to 3-8 on the season ahead of their Territorial Cup game against Arizona on Friday.

Oregon State improved to 8-3 ahead of its Civil War game against Oregon on Saturday.

Oregon State bleeds clock vs. ASU, wins game

Oregon State ran out much of the clock on its next drive with a lengthy drive behind backup QB Tristan Gebbia, who came in to relieve starter Ben Gulbranson on the drive.

The Beavers drive took 13 plays and went for 58 yards. It took 8:12 off the clock.

Everett Hayes missed a 23-yard field goal to conclude the drive.

Arizona State appears ready for this one to be over, but there is still 8:39 left in the game.

The Sun Devils had to punt after just gaining two yards on three plays on their latest possession.

The Sun Devils forced the Beavers to punt after a three-and-out, but D.J. Taylor muffed the punt, giving Oregon State the ball at ASU's 11-yard line.

Oregon State's Everett Hayes kicked a 26-yard field goal to extend its lead to 31-7 with 9:38 left in the game.

Arizona State punts ball back to Oregon State

Oregon State appears well on its way to its eighth win of the season.

ASU had to punt after a seven-play, 16-yard drive, giving Oregon State the ball back at its 21-yard line.

ASU's offense has just not been able to put many good drives together on the Beavers, who have done a good job of containing the Sun Devils.

Oregon State extends lead vs. Arizona State

This game is getting ugly.

Oregon State just went on an 11-play, 59-yard drive to take a 28-7 lead on ASU with 10 seconds left in the third quarter.

Ben Gulbranson ran in from eight yards out for the touchdown. He now has nine rushes for 36 yards on the game and a touchdown rushing to go along with his 15-for-18 passing for 188 yards and a touchdown.

The Sun Devils have now been outscored 21-0 since tying the game 7-7 late in the first half.

Oregon State is now up to 374 yards of total offense.

Homecoming hasn't been pleasant for Arizona State.

Arizona State turns ball over on downs

The Sun Devils turned the ball over on downs on their ensuing possession to end a 9-play, 34 yard drive.

A chop block penalty on Arizona State on 2nd and 3 really hurt ASU, as the Sun Devils were not able to recover from the 2nd and 18.

Xazavian Valladay continues to be a bright spot for ASU. He has 10 carried for 100 yards in the game, to go along with his touchdown run.

Oregon State adds to lead to open second half vs. ASU

Oregon State took the opening possession of the second half 83 yards to take a 21-7 lead on Arizona State.

The scoring drive took 10 plays and 5:10.

Damien Martinez ran it in from 12 yards out for the score.

Arizona State hasn't been able to stop him in the game, he now has 15 carries for 109 yards and two touchdowns for the Beavers.

Martinez, a true freshman, has now rushed for 100 yards in five straight games.

The Sun Devils haven't been able to stop Oregon State on the ground. The Beavers have 153 yards on 24 carries in the game, averaging 6.4 yards per carry.

After tying the game at 7 with 1:53 left in the second quarter, Oregon State has now built a 21-7 lead with 9:43 left in the third quarter.

Arizona State gamble doesn't end up hurting Sun Devils

The Sun Devils went for it on 4th and 6 at the 50-yard line, but Trenton Bourguet's pass to Jalin Conyers only went for five yards, giving Oregon State the ball with 26 seconds left.

ASU sacked Ben Gulbranson on the Beavers' first-down play, however, ending the half. Oregon State gets the ball to start the second half.

Oregon State goes back on top late in second quarter

Well, that wasn't what Arizona State needed.

Oregon State just went 75 yards on four plays in just :53 seconds to take a 14-7 lead on ASU with a minute left in the first half.

Ben Gulbranson completed three passes for 35, 12 and 21 yards on the drive, the last being the 21-yard completion to Jack Velling for the score. Velling also had the 35-yard reception on the drive.

Just like that, ASU went from having the momentum to being back behind in the game. The Beavers get the ball to start the second half.

Arizona State evens score vs. Oregon State

The Sun Devils have tied their game against the Beavers after a 7-play, 67 yards drive late in the first half.

Xazavian Valladay ran the ball in from 11 yards out for the touchdown, He also had a key 39-yard run on the drive to set up the touchdown.

There is 1:53 left in the first half. Oregon State will get a chance to answer here, and then the Beavers will get the ball to start the second half as well.

ASU's defense stepped up on Oregon State's next possession, forcing the Beavers to punt after four plays and 15 yards.

Arizona State's drive stalled after eight plays and 25 yards on their next possession, forcing the Sun Devils to punt the ball back to Oregon State.

Trenton Bourguet was sacked on a third down and eight for a seven-yard loss to force the punt for ASU.

Oregon State will start its next drive at its own 20-yard line.

Oregon State comes up short on field-goal attempt

The Arizona State defense stopped Oregon State on its next possession as Everett Hayes missed a 44-yard field goal to keep the score at 7-0 with 11:53 left in the first half.

Oregon State's drive went for 10 plays and 54 yards and took 4:05 off the clock.

This game seems to be moving fast with the game already more than three minutes into the second quarter and both teams having just two possessions.

Oregon State has a 142-84 advantage in total yards so far in the game, with 91 of the yards coming on the ground.

Arizona State football misses scoring chance vs. Oregon State

The Sun Devils were in position to get on the scoreboard after a lengthy drive against Oregon State late in the first quarter, but failed to get points when Carter Brown missed a 29-yard field goal after ASU's drive stalled.

The Sun Devils' drive had gone for 15 plays and 65 yards. It took 7:24 off the clock. The Sun Devils completed two third downs on the drive and a fourth down, but stalled in the red zone.

Trenton Bourguet is 8-for-11 for 52 yards for ASU passing the ball.

Xazavian Valladay had five carries for 24 yards on the drive.

Arizona State's defense could really use a big stop here to give the offense another chance to get back on the scoreboard.

Oregon State marches down field to take lead vs. ASU

ASU's defense couldn't stop Oregon State on its first possession of the game as the Beavers drove 78 yards in niine plays to take a 7-0 lead at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe.

Damien Martinez ran the ball in from 5-yards out to give the Beavers the lead.

Oregon State QB Ben Gulbranson was 5-for-5 on the drive for 51 yards.

Oregon State has now outscored its opponents 42-0 in the first quarter of the past five games.

The Arizona State football team started Saturday's game against Oregon State with a three-and-out.

Quarterback Trenton Bourguet completed all three of his passes on the possession, but all of them were for minimal yards.

Oregon State shorthanded vs. Arizona State

Oregon State will be without several starters Saturday, including veterans Alex Austin and Jaydon Grant, when the Beavers play Arizona State.

More than a handful of key players were injured during last Saturday’s game against California.

Among those who left the Cal game with an injury but will attempt to play against Arizona State are right tackle Taliese Fuaga, linebacker John McCartan, receiver Jesiah Irish and running back Jam Griffin.

Hurt last week but available if needed is left guard Heneli Bloomfield.

Out for Saturday’s game is Austin and Grant, receiver Anthony Gould, running back Deshaun Fenwick, linebacker Jack Colletto and offensive lineman Tyler Morano.

The loss of Austin and Grant is significant, as both are multiple year starters playing on the Pac-12′s best pass defense. With Colletto out, Oregon State’s short yardage package will change. Irish will return punts instead of Gould, who was injured during practice this week.

Fuaga returning to action is important as Morano was lost during practice this week. If Fuaga can’t go, the Beavers will go with freshman Jacob Strand.

Players who didn’t make the trip include Grant, Morano and quarterback Chance Nolan.

Arizona State honors Virginia football players killed in shooting

The ASU football team (and all Pac-12 home teams on Saturday) are honoring the memory of the three Virginia football players killed earlier this week, Lavel Davis Jr., Devin Chandler and D'Sean Perry by painting the hash marks at the 1, 15 and 41-yard lines Virginia orange.
