Oreo has been quite busy lately. Their announcement of a new mystery flavor has kept fans on their toes, and this latest post seems to be feeding the fire. Last Friday, the cookie company took to Facebook with an image of their logo- but without the two O's at each end.

Within minutes, people began to guess what this could possibly mean. Some insisted that this was a led up to a new flavor announcement, while others claimed that Oreo was working on some kind of cream-only product. The rest of us were just simply perplexed.

This Instagram post captioned, "We're over the moon about what we're announcing soon... stay tuned! 🌙 " seemed to support the new flavor theory, and is maybe even a clue related to their mystery flavored treats. One fan commented "marshmallow moon oreos!!" While we have no idea what that would taste like, we wouldn't put it past Oreo to make it happen!

Within a few hours, a Twitter post seemed to shed some light on the subject. In turns out that this specific marketing stunt was actually in honor of World Blood Donor Day. Using the #MissingTypes, Oreo was encouraging people to sign up for with the American World Cross and donate their "O’s, A’s, and B’s"

By the end of the day, the O's returned and Oreo thanked its fans for donating to the cause.

The fact that many people (myself included) were clearly not aware of World Blood Donor Day made this series of posts particularly special. Awareness is key!

And this is just another reason why Oreo really is the best packaged cookie of all time. With that being said, we hope that Oreo doesn't think we forgot about that Instagram post. They're clearly up to something else, and we can't wait to see what it is!
