Organist Vincent Dubois to perform solo concert at the Cathedral of St. Paul
Organist Vincent Dubois will perform a solo concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Cathedral of St. Paul.
The event is sponsored by the Cathedral Heritage Foundation. A freewill offering for the organ maintenance fund will be accepted.
One of the three titular organists at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, Dubois is a graduate of the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique in Paris. He earned international attention in 2002 after winning two major organ competitions, the recital gold medal at the Calgary International Organ Competition, and the grand prize at the International Competition of Toulouse, France.
He has since performed around the world and sat in with orchestras everywhere from Los Angeles to Hong Kong. Dubois is also director general of the Strasbourg National and Superior Conservatory of Music in France and teaches organ at the Freiburg Musikhochschule in Germany.
His program will include works of J.S. Bach, Cesar Franck, Camille Saint-Saens and Maurice Durufle. He will conclude with an improvisation, an integral part of liturgical music at Notre-Dame.
