An Organization-Obsessed Store Owner’s Top Storage Essentials

If you want to become an organized person, just move into a small apartment. You'll quickly realize there's nothing more annoying than your clutter staring you in the face morning, noon, and night. Out of pure self-preservation, tidying up after yourself—mail in the proper basket, clothes back on their hangers—will become habit. For Naomi Burd, owner of the new Melbourne shop Well Placed (it opened its doors in late November), staying organized has always come naturally. "It comes innately to me, and when I’m at home I am constantly shuffling things around and keeping things fresh," she says. But even so, she had a similar lightbulb moment. "When I moved to a small, modern city apartment and needed thoughtfully designed solutions to make the most of the limited room, it solidified for me that the details make a big difference," she says. "In store, we want our selection of pieces to be beautiful, inspiring, and useful—and we believe through good display, storage, and organization, we can all create spaces we love to spend time in."

Below, Naomi reveals her top organizing essentials, all available at the brick-and-mortar Well Placed. (Pssst…the online store launches next month, so in the meantime we've given you alternate shopping sources that ship to the U.S. Or you can order through Naomi via email at contact@well-placed.com.au.)

Creamore Mill poster hangers

"These are so easy to use and they have been a favorite for easy display of kids' ever-changing artwork or, in the large sizes, for hanging big posters, where a frame with glass would be heavy and expensive. They're also popular with renters, as they're light enough to use with sticky hooks." Email Well Placed to purchase.

Designbite clip-on rail system

"I love ranges where you can ‘create your own’ by choosing the individual components to suit your needs. With this system, you purchase one or more rails as your base and then choose the clip-on pieces you need—various pieces in navy, gray, and yellow are available. Can be used in the kitchen, hallway, kids' room, study, living room...the list goes on!" Email Well Placed to purchase.
