Organizers plan balloon release Thursday for Augusta domestic violence victim
Family members have planned a march and balloon release for 48-year-old Commen Dean Schultz-Gunn, who died March 15 during a domestic violence incident in Augusta.
Attendees will march from Schultz-Gunn's boutique, Bentlee Closet LLC at 105 McCartan St., to the Jessye Norman Amphitheatre on Eighth St. to perform the balloon release. The march will start at 6 p.m. and attendees are asked to bring a purple balloon for domestic violence awareness.

Richmond County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Brandywine Place just before 11 p.m. on March 15 for an unknown situation and shortly after received reports of shots fired at the same location.
When deputies arrived on scene, they attempted to engage with the suspect, later identified as Shawn Gunn, 52, of Augusta, who was located inside the home.
Gunn refused and later shot at deputies, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies returned fire, striking him at least once.

Gunn was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. No deputies were injured during the shootout.
Deputies conducted a protective sweep of the house and found Gunn's wife, Commen Schultz-Gunn, dead in the home. She was shot at least once by her husband, deputies said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
