Organizers plan protest against Supreme Court draft to overturn Roe v. Wade for Saturday

A peaceful protest against the recent leaked Supreme Court draft to overturn Roe v. Wade is planned for Saturday afternoon in downtown Sioux Falls.

The "No Ban on our Bodies" protest is set for 4 p.m. at Van Eps Park, according to organizers.

Speakers include Kaitlyn Fletcher, one of the organizers, and Jett Jonelis, the advocacy manager at the ACLU of South Dakota.

After the speakers, protesters with signs will take to the sidewalks on Minnesota Avenue in front of the park, according to organizers.

In the draft opinion that would overturn a person's right to abortion that was leaked on May 3, Justice Samuel Alito wrote, "Roe was egregiously wrong from the start."

Planned Parenthood North Central States, which includes South Dakota, expects abortion to become illegal in the state if the Supreme Court rules in June to overturn the 49-year-old case.
