Joining a host of new food options at Chase Field, the most visible will be a new restaurant and bar set to take over Chase Field's iconic Friday's Front Row. The team announced the newcomer on Monday, Mar. 28.

Friday's Front Row Sports Grill was a staple at the downtown Phoenix stadium, where it towered over the diamond. The restaurant opened along with the ballpark in 1998, and was popular among fans who could grab a beer and cheer on the Arizona Diamondbacks from their table.

When professional sports ground to a halt at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the restaurant shut down. In 2021, the team announced that the temporary closure would become permanent and the restaurant's recognizable giant neon sign was taken down.

Now, roughly two years since it initially closed, the restaurant space has a tenant.

What restaurant is replacing Friday's Front Row at Chase Field?

Scottsdale-based sports bar Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers is set to move in, along with a cocktail bar from its sister restaurant Bourbon & Bones.

“This is a special opportunity for us to raise the bar for both Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers and D-backs fans,” said S. Barrett Rinzler, CEO and Founder of Square One Concepts, which owns both the Cold Beers and Bourbon & Bones.

Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers currently has 12 locations throughout the Valley including restaurants in Scottsdale, Chandler, Gilbert and Glendale. The restaurant and bar serves a selection of local craft brews as well as imported beers along with burgers, sandwiches, salads and appetizers like wings and nachos.

You can eat at the baseball stadium, even if there's no game

The menu will be available at the ballpark location seven days a week, according to the press release, meaning there doesn't have to be a baseball game happening for customers to eat inside the stadium.

"There is no other place in the valley where one can meet up with family or friends any day of the week to enjoy items from our scratch-made kitchen, as well as drinks, with a view of a major league ballpark,” Rinzler said in the release.

The restaurant is scheduled to open this summer, and the cocktail concept from Bourbon & Bones will join shortly thereafter.

Other new food coming to the ballpark

A host of new restaurants are opening soon for baseball fans, including Guy Fieri's first sit-down location in Arizona. Inside the stadium, the Chase Field concessions are getting an upgrade too.

New spots to look forward to include:

  • Black Rock Coffee in Section 110: Coffee, tea, smoothies and energy drinks.

  • Chick-fil-A in Section 126: Chicken sandwiches, lemonade and waffle fries.

  • Cremily Dessert Bar at Section 120: Frozen yogurt, ice pops and soft serve. Also available at Doubleheaders stands throughout the stadium.

  • Scoopwell's Dough Bar in Section 106: Edible cookie dough.

  • Zoyo Neighborhood Yogurt in Section 322: Frozen yogurt with dairy free and sugar free options.
