Original LFO member Brian ‘Brizz’ Gillis dead at 47, becomes 3rd member of ‘90s boy band to die

Brian ‘Brizz’ Gillis, one of the original members of ‘90s boyband LFO, has died. He was 47 years old.

In a post on Instagram, former bandmate Brad Fischett confirmed the death, sharing that Gillis had passed away on Wednesday.

I don’t have details and it wouldn’t be my place to share them if I did,” Fischett wrote in a lengthy tribute to his friend. “I am really struggling to process this tragic loss. I’ve said it before and I will continue to say it; the LFO Story is a tragedy.”

“If you know what I’ve been doing, you know I’m trying to bring light into the darkness,” he continued. “Trying find redemption in pain and suffering. Trying to honor the legacy.”

Gillis is now the third member of the boy band to pass away.

Bandmate David Lima died in 2018 after a battle with adrenal cancer, and the band’s founder Rich Cronin died in 2010 from leukemia, reports People.

“I know that soon or maybe already, Brizz will be greeted by Rich and Devin,” Fischetti added in his Instagram post. “And I hope that together, they will make some sweet sounds. I would really like that.”

Gillis was one-third of the band that launched in 1995, and stayed with them before departing in 1998. While a member, Gillis helped create two hit singles, “(Sex U Up) The Way You Like It” and the New Kids on the Block cover “Step by Step.”

After leaving the band, he went on to pursue a solo career and eventually found a job in radio promotion.

Fischett went on to mention in his post that he learned a great deal about the music business from his “bandmate and friend,” and said that without him, LFO would not have become what it did.

He added that he has “prayed for Brian every day for many years,” and will continue to pray for him and his family.
