Original Penguin: 2021 spring collection designed to escape life’s worries and tap into your fun side
Original Penguin was the first company to create a golf-specific polo back in 1955. OPG has been an American icon in golf style on and off the course for the past 65 years, and they don’t have plans of stopping anytime soon. The Spring 2021 Collection is inspired by the notion of a golf resort getaway with 1950’s nostalgia vibes.
Original Penguin has been worn by some of the best-dressed and iconic men in the world. Figures such as Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Jack Nicklaus, and Bing Crosby have been seen stunting the retro styles and designs.
As the saying goes, “what’s old is new again,” and Original Penguin has put a modern twist on their new retro Spring collection with bright colors and eye-catching prints. The pandemic has been tough on everyone, so Original Penguin provides a much-needed escape with this release.
Using archived Munsingwear illustrations, Original Penguin has created a vast collection of nostalgic, on-course prints as well as 19th hole treats. Pieces in the collection mimic a timeless, old-school vacation wardrobe and the views surrounding the course, country club and beaches.
The spring pieces flashback to retro 1950’s postcards, or transport you to a post-round shrimp cocktail at the 19th hole, Lei flowers at the beach, or bright parrots on the course. Their polos are revolutionizing the golf apparel industry with their modern tailored fit, eco-friendly soft jersey fabric, and electric prints.
Original Penguin has joined the conversation of sustainable fashion, and its fabric is comfortable, yet eco-conscious. All polos, shorts and pants will be made with at least 30% recycled polyester in the 2021 spring collection.
OPG’s Classic Earl polo will be getting an upgrade and move to having 44% recycled polyester. This was Original Penguin’s first branded Golf Polo 65 years ago, and they offer this style in a full range of colors and is their most iconic style in the line.
The fabrics have an incredible balance of highly technical poly elastane and a luxury tri-blend made of pima cotton. This material allows golfers to move confidently throughout their day with 4-way stretch and moisture-wicking technology.
Parts of the collection have subtle pinks, greens and vibrant patterns to complement the fun of the 19th hole and post-round drinks with friends. Some polos were inspired by Miami beaches, and floral lei’s to help escape life’s worries and to focus on golf and all the good in life.
The collection is introducing two great jackets to keep you dry this spring season. The Rain or Shine Jacket and the VI- Pete Technical Jacket. These jackets are functional and fashionable with a retro sporty touch. Both pieces are water repellent and have 4-way stretch to fit comfortably and help you boldly perform.
For spring 2021, Original Penguin is introducing a new short silhouette, The Pete Resort Short. The waistband allows for it to be worn as a pull-on short with elastic or drawstring waistband, yet allows for a belt for a more formal look depending on the occasion.
