The “Original” Toughman Contest to be held in West Virginia

CHARLESTON, WV (WVNS) — The “Original” Toughman Contest will be brought to Charleston, West Virginia by Jerry Thomas’ West Virginia Sports Promotions and the Dutch Miller Auto Group.

The contest will be held at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center on Thursday, February 29, 2024 and Friday, March 1, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.

There will be up to $34,000 in prize money that will be awarded for the contest. Ring Girls and fighters who want to participate in the single elimination boxing tournament, can sign up on the contest’s website, and those who apply need to be in good physical condition

The single elimination boxing tournament is open to area men and women who are 18 to 39 years old who have little amateur experience and no pro fighting experience. Street fighters, bar brawlers, jocks, and bar bouncers are welcome at the contest.

Kevin Hart to make tour stop in West Virginia

The scheduled bouts will be three one-minute rounds, and all fighters will be wearing 16 ounce gloves. Both the men’s and women’s weight classes are lightweight up to 139lbs, welterweight 140-159lbs, middleweight 160-184lbs, cruiserweight 185-215lbs, and heavyweight over 215lbs.

Tickets can be found at the Charleston Coliseum Box Office and Ticketmaster’s website for $25 general admission, $30 reserved non ringside, and reserved ringside floor seats are available at various prices.

West Virginia State Athletic Commission sanctioned and will be supervising the event.
