Orlando Bloom joins Katy Perry in Peppa Pig special

Orlando Bloom has joined fiancée Katy Perry in the cast for special episodes of Peppa Pig.

The pair, who have been engaged since 2019, will star in Peppa Pig Wedding Party Special, a three-part event which will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the animated series (via TVLine).

Bloom will lend his voice to the role of Mr. Raccoon, a “jeweller who assists with the preparations for Mr. Bull and Ms. Cow’s nuptials.” The already-announced Perry will play Ms. Leopard, a “dressmaker who helps out with the first-ever wedding seen in the franchise.”

The episodes, which were filmed prior to the strikes by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA, will debut in Spring 2024. The official account for the series confirmed the latest casting announcement, referring to the acquisition of Bloom as “oinktastic news”.

Bloom and Perry started dating in 2016, and welcomed their first child together in 2020, with the pair having a baby girl called Daisy.

Bloom, who has also starred in the The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises, recently landed the lead role in The Cut, a psychological thriller set in the world of boxing.

The star will play an ex-professional boxer who is brought out of retirement to win back his championship title, with the gruelling training regime resulting in his alienation from reality and loved ones as he spirals out of control.

The project is being directed by Sean Ellis, best known for Metro Manila and Anthropoid, with Bloom currently the only attached cast member; The Cut is currently on the market for a buyer.

Bloom was also seen on both the big and small screens recently due to his roles in Gran Turismo and Carnival Row, with the latter coming to a conclusion with its second season.

Peppa Pig Wedding Party Special will air in 2024.
