Orlando city worker wins on ‘Jeopardy!’: Will be back Thursday night for next round

This City of Orlando employee with decades of experience in the city competed on “Jeopardy!” on WFTV Channel 9 Wednesday night.

7:30 p.m. Update:

Ed Peterson, a planning technician from Orlando took 1st place Monday night on Jeopardy. Peterson, took first place after all three contestants failed to answer the final Jeopardy question. Peterson’s wage left him with the highest score for the night, finishing with a total of $7,999.

Peterson will be back on Tuesday to see if can get back-to-back wins.

If your answer was Ed Petersen, you’d be correct.

Petersen, a planning technician who has worked for and lived in the City of Orlando for 22 years, will be one of three contestants competing tonight on the iconic game show.

His game show debut coincides with Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer’s State of the City address. Dyer congratulated Petersen and wished him well ahead of his appearance during his address.

“He has dreamed for decades about getting a chance to appear as a contestant on the show. Recently, that dream came true,” Dyer said during the address. “Ed is one member of an incredible team at the City of Orlando... a team of dedicated professionals who go above and beyond for our residents every single day. As mayor, it’s an honor and a privilege to work alongside them.”

You can watch Petersen compete when “Jeopardy!” airs tonight at 7 p.m. on Channel 9.
