Orlando Home & Garden Show showcases 250 vendors, free admission

Homeowners, gardeners and aspiring interior decorators of all ages and backgrounds will flock to Orange County Convention Center this weekend as an annual tradition returns.

The 14th Annual Orlando Home and Garden Show invites guests to browse more than 250 vendors Feb. 24-26 during the largest Central Florida show to date.

“In the spring, everybody is thinking about outdoor living, pools, patios, spas and gardening. We have a lot of gardening information; you can meet with experts,” said Pamela Rogers, VP of strategic planning and development for Show Technology Productions, the event’s organizer. “You get free information, free access to ideas and inspiration.”

Throughout the weekend, attendees can meet with contractors and exhibitors, compare prices, connect with local vendors and get advice on home projects. Homeowners can delve into the latest trends in various areas, including kitchen and baths, window treatments, alternative energy, landscaping, décor, garage organization and more.

“There’s so much technology now where a vendor can sit with you right there in the booth, give you a quote and show you what your design would look like,” Rogers said. “We consider everything from the front door to the backyard that you would use in some capacity in your daily life as it relates to your home and garden.”

Bass Pro Shop’s Great Outdoor Showcase presents more than 3,000 square feet of kayaking, camping, outdoor gear and fishing seminars. Visitors can also find gardening seminars, animal adoptions, pet accessories and a wide range of merchants with edibles and free samples.

“The best part is the shopping section which has cakes, cookies, candies, fudge, wine tasting, olive oils, dips and mixes. You can sample your way through there,” Rogers said.

Giveaways include two La-Z-Boy recliners, workout weights and 100 free cookies each day at the door. On Saturday and Sunday, the first 100 children ages 12 and younger will get a free ticket to the Crayola Experience Orlando.

“Once you got your new shed and your man cave and new décor and all that stuff, you can bring home a new pet and leave with a cupcake,” Rogers said. “You can find what you need and then have some fun.”
