Orlando looks to have new business owners develop safety plan to serve alcohol

Orlando city leaders are working on an ordinance meant to curb crime in downtown Orlando.

It would require new business owners to apply for a special use permit and show a safety plan if they want to serve alcohol after midnight.

Another change would require parking lot owners to have a security plan and block off lots when closed.

Once the draft ordinance is completed, it will be brought before the city commission for a vote.
