Orlando man arrested in hit-and-run crash into 2 Milk District businesses

An 18-year-old Orlando man was arrested Monday morning after crashing into another vehicle and two Milk District storefronts and attempting to file a false police report, according to Orlando Police.

Brandan J. McIntyre faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, and filing a false report to law enforcement authorities, according to Orange County Jail records.

At around 1:20 a.m., a crash between a black Honda Civic and a red Nissan Altima caused the Altima to leave the roadway and hit the Milk District storefronts of The Spot and the Vintage Chair. The Altima driver, later identified as McIntyre, left the scene in another vehicle, OPD said.

The Civic driver had minor injuries and declined to be taken to the hospital, OPD said.

At around 2:40 a.m., OPD received a call, this time from McIntyre, who claimed to be the victim of a carjacking, OPD said.

A pile of bricks from a former wall lies between the Spot and the Vintage Chair. Infrastructure is hanging from the storefront roof tops and part of the glass display is cracked.

The Spot, which opened in September, is a 700-square-foot retail pop-up incubator for merchants and artists. The Vintage Chair is one of Robsinon Street’s aged furnishings and decorative stores.

“Thankfully our vendors in the space were minimally impacted,” according to a Milk District Instagram post. “We got the space all boarded up and secure, and are working to get the building back in shape and bring the vendors back for Tasty Takeover this Tuesday night.”
