An Orlando man found with thousands of files of child pornography could face up to 100 years in prison after he was found guilty of five counts of receiving, distributing and possessing the material, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
A federal jury found Ryan Rusty Rodriguez, 45, guilty of two counts of receiving, two counts of distributing and one count of possessing child pornography, the office for the Middle District of Florida said Monday. Rodriguez could face up to 20 years in federal prison on each count.
According to federal investigators, FBI agents learned Rodriguez was downloading and sharing child pornography from his home. When they arrived at his address with a search warrant, they saw Rodriguez trying to hide a hard drive as agents knocked on the door.
Rodriguez also tried to erase the material from his computer, according to a press release.
Agents with the FBI’s Computer Analysis Response Team found evidence Rodriguez had an unspecified “thousands” of files of child pornography across his devices, the release said.
Rodriguez’s sentencing hearing will be held Jan. 27.
