A 24-year-old Orlando man was traveling east in a sedan when he veered off the road and struck a tree, troopers said. The sedan caught fire and was fully engulfed.

The 24-year-old was extracted from the car and taken to Bay Medical Center in critical condition. A passenger in the sedan, a 23-year-old Orlando woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash.
