Orlando woman killed, others injured in 6-vehicle wreck on I-95

An Orlando woman was killed and five people were injured Friday night in a six-vehicle crash on Interstate 95, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened just after 10 p.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 267 in Volusia County, FHP said.

According to a crash report, a Hyundai Elantra in the outside lane of the interstate moved into the next lane, hitting an Hyundai SUV.

The Elentra was pushed into the path of a Toyota Corolla, which it collided with. The Corolla subsequently was hit by a Volvo semi-truck and a Toyota SUV.

The driver of the Elantra, a 28-year-old from Orlando, was taken to Halifax Medical Center; the passenger, a 25-year-old Orlando woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two woman from Jacksonville in the Hyundai SUV were taken to Advent Health Hospital with minor injuries, the crash report said. The driver of the Corolla suffered minor injuries and was treated at Halifax Medical Center.

The three other drivers and one single passenger were not injured, but stayed on the scene, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
