Orrville mayor's state of the city report touts 2022 accomplishments

DISCUSSION New projects are on the way as the city began the plans for installing a skateboard park. Public meetings took place last year to get ideas from skateboard riders and experts’ input. The project will be located near the dog park and is expected to be ready by summer.

Several companies expanded in 2022, such as J.M. Smucker Co. The company added 29,000 square feet for a research and development lab with 35 new jobs promised.

In addition, Orrville welcomed new businesses such as Orr Valley Creamery, Dunkin’ Donuts, Anytime Fitness, and HVN beauty salon in 2022.

OTHER ACTION Approved the purchase of additional materials and services for the department of Public Utilities. The Director of Public Utilities, Jeff Brediger, requested additions to the annual purchasing resolutions that were previously approved by council. The additional purchases include water and electric meters as well as chemicals for the water, electric, and wastewater departments.
