OSBI investigating officer-involved shooting in Bixby

BIXBY, Okla. (KFOR) – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating after a domestic dispute call in Bixby ended with an officer-involved shooting.

Around 5 a.m. on Feb. 4, the Bixby Police Department responded to a domestic dispute at a home near East 131st Street South and South Memorial Drive.

When officers arrived on scene, they attempted to make contact with the suspect, 55-year-old Christopher Veal.

OSBI officials say Veal remained inside the residence and refused to follow officers’ commands, so the South West Area Tactical SWAT was called to the scene for negotiation.

According to the OSBI, when Veal continued to not comply, less lethal force was utilized, but Veal then fired multiple rounds towards officers, so officers fired back and struck Veal an unknown number of times.

There were no other injuries during the incident.
