Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne have shared public declarations of love as they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

The 73-year-old Black Sabbath rocker and the 69-year-old TV presenter began dating in 1979 and married in Maui, Hawaii in 1982.

Sharon wrote on Twitter: "52 years together and today 40 years married. Always by my side. My soulmate, Happy Anniversary Ozzy."

Ozzy shared pictures from their wedding day and said: "40 Years Ago Today! Happy Anniversary My Love."

Ozzy has previously revealed that Sharon purposefully picked their wedding date as 4th July, which is Independence Day in the United States, so he would remember it.

They briefly split in 2016 following reports that Ozzy had been unfaithful.

He has since expressed regret at his behaviour, telling GQ magazine: "I got my reality check and I'm lucky she didn’t leave me. I'm not proud of that. I was pissed off with myself. But I broke her heart."

The couple are parents to daughter Aimee, born in 1983, Kelly, born in 1984 and son Jack, born in 1985. Ozzy has two children, Jessica and Louis, from a previous relationship.

The couple met through Sharon's father Don Arden, who was the manager of Black Sabbath. When they began dating, Arden fired Ozzy from the band and Sharon became his music manager.

The family appeared, without Aimee, in hit MTV reality show The Osbournes from 2002 to 2005.

Ozzy is currently recovering after undergoing major surgery to his spine.

The rock star had an operation to remove and realign the pins in his neck and back that were inserted following a quad-biking accident in 2003.

He originally injured his spine in a quad-bike accident in 2003. Pins were fitted to realign his back and neck following the injury.

But these were then knocked out of place when he suffered a fall at his Los Angeles home in 2019 and he underwent another operation.

After being plagued by health problems he revealed in an emotional interview with Good Morning America in January 2020 that he had been diagnosed with degenerative disease Parkinson’s, which affects the nervous system and can cause depression.

He said: "I had to have surgery on my neck which screwed all my nerves in. I've got numbness down this arm from the surgery. My legs feel going cold, I don't know if that's Parkinson's or what... It's a weird feeling."

Ozzy rose to fame with Birmingham heavy metal group Black Sabbath in 1969 and has enjoyed an enduring musical career with the band and as a solo artist.
