Oscar De La Hoya denies allegations of sexual assault

Former boxing champ Oscar De La Hoya has been accused of sexual assault by a woman who claims De La Hoya got violent during a sexual encounter, according to ESPN.
The woman filed a lawsuit against De La Hoya in California. In the lawsuit, the woman says she and De La Hoya were involved in a consensual relationship, but De La Hoya took things too far one night in late 2017. According to the lawsuit, De La Hoya wanted the woman to perform a “specific kind of sex act,” according to ESPN.
After the woman declined, De La Hoya became angry and sexually assaulted her. The woman says she “screamed in pain” during the encounter. She eventually managed to get away from De La Hoya and left his home.
The woman was in so much pain that she sought medical treatment, according to ESPN.
In the lawsuit, the woman said she "felt extreme swelling and pain" and sought medical treatment at an urgent care facility where she was prescribed medication. According to the lawsuit, the woman later was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the incident.
The woman is seeking damages for sexual assault, sexual battery, gender violence, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
A spokesman for De La Hoya denied those allegations, calling them “completely false.”
De La Hoya, 46, is an Olympic Hall of Famer who won multiple boxing gold medals throughout his career. De La Hoya also held a number of boxing titles between 1992 and 2009. De La Hoya retired in 2009, and currently is a promoter at Golden Boy Promotions, which he founded in 2002.
