P Diddy offered to help solve the beef between Will Smith and Chris Rock after the King Richard actor hit Rock at the Oscars 2022.

At the ceremony being broadcast from Los Angeles’s Dolby Theatre, Smith yelled at the comedian, telling him to “keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth” after punching the comedian in the arm.

While presenting the award for Best Documentary, Rock quipped: “Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see you,”

The comment prompted the Oscar-nominated actor to stand up and walk on stage, causing Rock to joke: “Uh oh...”

After Smith hits Rock in the arm, he walked off stage and proceeded to take his seat.

“Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me,” said Rock.

Smith is then heard yelling: “Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth,” to which Rock replied: “Wow... dude. It was a GI Jane joke.”

“Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth,” Smith yelled again.

“I’m going to...” replied Rock, who appeared flustered at the interaction.

“That was the greatest night in the history of television...” he said before presenting the category nominees.

The moment prompted several Twitter users to ask: “What just happened at the Oscars” after the livestream cut off for a brief period for audiences in the UK and India.

Many viewers also reported that the sound of the televised broadcast cut out during Smith’s outburst in order to cut the swearing.

When the livestream resumed, P Diddy (real name Sean Combs) came on-stage at the “most exciting Oscars ever” and offered to mediate between Smith and Rock.

“Will and Chris, we’re going to solve this – but right now we’re moving on with love,” the rapper said.

Rock’s joke has been presumed to be about Jada-Pinkett’s shaved head. The actor has previously opened up about coping with a genetic hair loss condition called alopecia , first revealing her diagnosis in 2018.

Smith was seen speaking to actors Bradley Cooper and Denzel Washington after his apparent on-stage fracas with Rock.
