OSF HealthCare working to bring hospital services back to Peru

PEORIA — OSF HealthCare has signed a letter of intent with St. Margaret's Health that may lead to the reopening of St. Margaret's Health - Peru and other medical facilities across the Illinois Valley.

The current plan is to eventually have an emergency department and other select in-patient services in Peru, according to a press release issued by OSF HealthCare on Friday. St. Margaret's Health - Peru suspended all inpatient hospital services on Jan. 28.

“Despite the challenges we’ve faced, we have remained committed to our mission and to the values of Catholic health care,” said Tim Muntz, St. Margaret’s Health president and CEO. “Together with OSF, we are exploring how residents of the Illinois Valley can access quality health care for years to come.”

Hospital officials are working to get regulatory approvals for the plan.
