OSF show canceled due to smoke

Aug. 11—ASHLAND — Oregon Shakespeare Festival canceled Wednesday evening's outdoor performance due to smoky air.

The summer concert, Morgan E., featuring Maiesha McQueen, is part of a summer concert series with shows at 8 p.m. Wednesdays throughout the run of "Fannie: The Music and Life of Fannie Lou Hamer," July 21-Oct. 6.

Ticket holders for the canceled show can obtain a voucher for a different performance through the end of the 2022 season, donate their ticket cost to OSF or get the link to a HD streaming performance of "Fannie."

A spokesperson for OSF said leadership meets each performance day to determine whether events should proceed over the next two days, considering air quality and performer sensitivities.

Parts of Ashland reached 261 on the air quality index Wednesday afternoon, considered "very unhealthy."
