Oshkosh’s can’t-miss events this week include the farmers' market and a Pride celebration

OSHKOSH - Enjoy the outdoors all week long with the farmers' market on Main Street, a movie at the Leach or classic cars at Ardy & Ed's.

Here are your five can't-miss events happening in the community this week.

1. Food, music and handcrafted items can all be found at farmers' market

With approximately 130 vendors each week, the Oshkosh Summer Farmers' Market is sure to have something for everyone.

The summer markets are held rain or shine, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturdays, June through October in the 400 and 500 blocks of North Main Street, and Church Street.

In addition to fresh produce, flowers and handmade crafts, live music will be provided along with themed events.

2. Ardy & Ed’s Cruise Nights come with large dose of nostalgia

Ardy & Ed’s Drive In Restaurant, 2413 S. Main St. in Oshkosh, hosts several Summer Cruise Nights. All are invited to cruise in from 5 to 9 p.m. June 22 and enjoy some collectible cars and oldies music while you order dinner from car hops on roller skates.

Ardy & Ed’s has been open since 1948, originally known as the Southside A & W Drive In. Through the years, the business has changed hands, but the traditions have remained. The drive-in has been featured in numerous local and national publications, websites, and TV broadcasts.

3. Enjoy a family movie, food and more at Leach Amphitheater

Family Movie Night will be offered once a month during the summer at Oshkosh’s Leach Amphitheater. The next movie, "Puss in Boots," will be shown at dusk on June 23.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m. In addition to the movie, there will be food trucks, bounce houses and face painting. The entertainment will be Brigade Music and Tech Ensemble.

4. Build community at family-friendly Pride celebration

Oshkosh Pride 2023, a family-friendly celebration, will be held 1 to 8 p.m. June 25 at the Leach Amphitheater.

This annual event, organized by Hope Fridge, is an opportunity to build community.

Admission is free and includes yard games, music, dancing, singing, speakers and performers. A variety of non-profit organizations and mutual aid groups will be on hand to provide information. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

5. 'Made in America' is focus of next community band concert

The Oshkosh Area Community Band offers a Summer Concert Series. The next concert will be at 7 p.m. June 28 at the Alberta Kimball Auditorium, 375 N. Eagle St., Oshkosh. Admission is free.

The theme is “Made in America.” All songs are either by American composers or about America.

Two selections the band will play are “A Lincoln Portrait” by Aaron Copland and, with Director Emeritus Terry Hathaway on the podium, “The Homefront — Songs of World War II.” Several other patriotic songs also will be included in the concert.

Formed in 1987, the band is composed of volunteers. For more information, visit oacb.org.
