OSHKOSH — Jim Casper of Oshkosh was recognized recently for his contributions and volunteer service to the Experimental Aircraft Association. He received the Henry Kimberly Spirit of Leadership Award during the EAA Halls of Fame banquet.

The award is named for the late Henry Kimberly, a longtime Oshkosh civic leader who was instrumental in building community support for EAA.

Casper was recognized for more than 40 years of service as an EAA AirVenture Oshkosh volunteer and chairperson at the North 40 Flight Line Operations at Wittman Regional Airport. North 40 volunteers coordinate the thousands of landing aircraft and safely move them into parking and camping areas, as well as synchronizing their departures.

Casper also has been involved in many other EAA activities, including at the EAA Aviation Museum, the museum’s Pioneer Airport and is actively involved in EAA Chapter 252 based in Oshkosh.

“Jim represents the best of the EAA volunteer corps — knowledgeable, dedicated and a mentor to new volunteers,” said Jack Pelton, EAA’s CEO and chairman of the board, who presented the award at a dinner in the EAA Aviation Museum’s Eagle Hangar. “He has been an outstanding example of our volunteers from the Oshkosh area who make EAA a destination for aviation enthusiasts from all parts of the globe.”
