Osky's 2022 Young Ambassadors announced

Nov. 29—OSKALOOSA — The City of Oskaloosa has two new young faces to represent it this holiday season.

The Oskaloosa Main Street Young Ambassador Contest winners were announced at a ceremony at Penn Central Mall Monday night. Santa Claus was in attendance, as well as the friends and family members of the 27 children between the ages of three and kindergarten who participated in the contest-fundraiser.

The 2022 Young Ambassador Princess is Preslee Breuklander, age 4. Preslee is the daughter of Dave and Amy Breuklander. Preslee's favorite Christmas song is "Away in the Manger." Her favorite activity is riding in the tractor with her Grandpa, and she wants a baby cow or pig for Christmas.

The 2022 Young Ambassador Prince is Myles McGee, age 3. Myles is the son of Megan and Erik McGee. His favorite Christmas song is "Jingle Bells." His favorite activities include going to church and playing with friends and family, and he wants Mickey toys and books for Christmas.

Both children attend the Oskaloosa Early Childhood Development Center.

Other participants were Addilyn Dekleine, Anna Haage, Ariana Adams, Avery Wickenkamp, Brighton Brown, Gemma Stalling, Hattie Shelquist, Harmione Shrader, Jayla Stalling, Kenzlie Owens, Kyleena Raymie, Lany Ward, Lynley Rodriguez, Mia Weigle, Piper VanderBeek, Rose Miller, Sapphire Greenlee, Serenity Asher, Teagan Wiley, Anthony Weinreich, Jamari Kamerick, Jude Edgington, Lennon Fairchild and Logan DeGroot.

The event raised more than $4,000, according to Oskaloosa Main Street director Amy Brainard. The proceeds will go toward both Oskaloosa Main Street's Lighted Christmas Parade and Little Creations Preschool.

All participants received gifts from Santa, which were donated by local businesses including Mahaska Drug and Hy-Vee, according to Oskaloosa Main Street's press release. They're also invited to help Oskaloosa celebrate the Christmas holiday by riding on the Clow Train during the "Christmas Canvas" Lighted Christmas Parade, which will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.
