Sommerro is putting all eyes on Oslo. Just a few short months after the hotel’s fall 2022 opening in the Norwegian capital, it already made its way to Travel + Leisure’s list of the 100 Best New Hotels in the World. And now, it’s opening a brand-new villa right next door.

Villa Inkognito, an 11-room retreat, is available both on an individual room and a full buyout basis. Each room is meant to feel like a home away from home.

The villa is housed in a former private residence dating back to 1870, which was transformed into offices for the city’s first electrical company. Later, it served as the Algerian embassy.

Guests of the villa check in through a private entrance and are greeted by a dedicated host who is on hand to cater to their every need. This includes helping them make priority reservations at the accompanying hotel’s seven restaurants and bars.

On a recent visit to the Sommerro, I grabbed a bite at Izakaya — the hotel's low-key Japanese street food spot. It provided stunning 360-degree views of the city below thanks to its massive balcony spaces and floor-to-ceiling windows. Though, if I could go back and do it again, I’d also make a date at its upscale Nordic-Japanese dining venue: Tak Oslo.

Those staying at the villa can also take advantage of the hotel’s 100-seat movie theater, use its wildly well-appointed gym, or relax in its wellness space, which has a fully restored public bath. Want to unwind but still take in the view? Head to the top floor to enjoy the city’s only year-round rooftop pool and sauna.

Back at the villa, guests can enjoy the gorgeous redesign by the New York and London-based design team GrecoDeco. According to a statement provided to T+L, the team made certain to preserve the villa’s special spark by including a mix of antiques and modern original artwork.

Rooms at the villa range from cozy standard rooms to suites that come with separate living and sleeping areas, a dining table large enough for six, and a private balcony. But all come with gilded furnishings, high ceilings, and Svane mattresses for ultimate comfort.

Single rooms at Villa Inkognito start from $615 per night, and full villa rentals begin at $10,200 per night. To learn more or book a stay, head over to villainkognito.com.
