Osnaburg Township to increase salt storage capacity

OSNABURG TWP. – Township officials will increase their salt storage capacity with the construction of a 2,880-square-foot storage facility.

The salt storage facility will be built on the grounds of Township Hall at 7115 Hillvale St. SE. Estimated cost for the structure is $163,000, according to the Stark County Building Department.

"The one we have now is only big enough to hold 300 tons," township Trustee Randall Pero said. "That is not very big. The new one will hold around 1,200 (tons). We have never run out. But we have had times when we came close."

The metal frame structure will have a dome on its top.

"We have set aside money to build it," township Trustee Brenda Griffith said. "We have been working on this for two years. It was supposed to be done. But there have been some delays with supplies. It will get done."
