Georgia's Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock have introduced a bill to authorize construction of a child development center at Fort Gordon.

The bill, S. 1623, follows a successful, bipartisan push by the senators last year to get $21 million for the project. The authorization for the project is set to expire at the end of the fiscal year, though. The new legislation would, if passed, give the U.S. Army authorization to continue working through October 2024.

“I’m committed to making sure the military families on post and all who are serving at Ft. Gordon have access to early childhood education,” Ossoff was quoted as saying in a press release.
