OSU Extension: 4-H to be held March 4 at the fairgrounds

Do you want to join 4-H in Fairfield County? Come and learn more about 4-H from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Fairgrounds. The event will be held at the AAA building at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds. You will learn about projects in Animal Science, Companion Animals, Child and Family Development, Food and Nutrition, Money Management, Creative Arts and much, much more available thru the 4-H Youth Development program in Fairfield County. In addition to learning about projects available there will be several demonstrations and interactive displays to visit. This event is free and open to all who are interested. What is 4-H Age ? How do I get Started?Membership to the traditional 4-H club program begins when a child is at least enrolled in 3rd grade and has reached age 8 as of January 1 of the current year. Ohio 4-H membership ends December 31 of the year in which and individual turns 19.

Cloverbud Membership in 4-HEligibility for 4-H membership begins when a child has enrolled in kindergarten and reached age 5 as if January 1 of the current year (Cloverbuds). Cloverbud participation ends when a child is eligible for competitive events, 4-H projects, and other older youth activities.

Seed Starting Class

Want to learn the easiest ways to start seeds with out breaking the bank? Learn more about when to start those seeds and the tools you might have around your house to get started. Master Gardener Volunteer Keith Eichhorn will be leading the discussion at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the Fairfield County Ag Center. The meeting is free and open to all those interested. Online fruit tree pruning

Come join us for a two-part, online workshop to learn proper pruning techniques to improve production and quality in your fruit tree and small fruit plantings. You will be online with Ohio State University South Centers experts, who will give live presentations with short pre-recorded videos. There will also be a live Q&A. This will be a 2 part series. Part I will be Thursday, March 9 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. featuring Tree Fruit Pruning with a focus on Apple, Peach, and Pear Trees. Part 2 will begin on Tuesday, March 14 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. focusing on blueberries, grapes, and raspberries. To register go.osu.edu/pruningschool. Cost is free. Pressure Cooker Lunch and Learn

Join Shannon Carter, Extension Educator, and Sandy Bohl, Trained Instructor to learn the basics of electric pressure cooking. Includes meal planning tips, how to save money and time as well as recipes to try.
