WACO, Texas — Queen Egbo scored 19 points, NaLyssa Smith had a double-double and No. 15 Baylor defeated Oklahoma State 67-49 on Wednesday night.

Dak Prescott apologizes for condoning fans throwing at refs

Dak Prescott apologized Tuesday night for his comments that condoned Dallas Cowboys fans throwing objects at NFL officials after the team's playoff loss, with the quarterback saying in a series of tweets that he deeply regretted what he said after the game.

When initially asked about objects such as water bottles being thrown at Dallas players as they left the field at the end of their 23-17 wild-card loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Prescott said it was “sad” fans would do that. After another reporter said it appeared that officials were the targets, the quarterback responded, “Credit to them then.”

When given another chance to answer a question about fans throwing objects at officials, Prescott said, “I guess it’s why the refs took off and got out of there so fast. I think everybody was upset about the way that this thing played out.”

Prescott had since received plenty of pushback nationally for his comments, even drawing the ire of NBA referees.

EAGLES: General manager Howie Roseman said Jalen Hurts will reman the Eagles' starting quarterback in 2022. Roseman said he was impressed by the former OU star's growth as a player on and off the field.

BROWNS: Quarterback Baker Mayfield had successful surgery Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, an injury that affected his play, led to a disappointing season and raised doubts about his future with the Browns.

Mayfield, who only missed one game with the injury, will need up to six months of rehab, but is expected to be fully recovered by the time the Browns hold offseason workouts — assuming, of course, he's still with the team.

Michigan must pay out $490 million

A financial payout for more than 1,000 people — mostly men — who say they were sexually assaulted by former University of Michigan sports doctor Robert Anderson is the latest multimillion settlement involving schools faced with sexual misconduct scandals.

The $490 million settlement announced Wednesday by the Ann Arbor school is just $10 million shy of the $500 million Michigan State University agreed in 2018 to pay to sexual assault victims of it's own sport doctor, Larry Nassar.

Anderson worked at the university from 1966 until his 2003 retirement and was director of the university’s Health Service and a physician for multiple athletic teams, including football. A number of football players and other athletes have come forward to accuse Anderson, who died in 2008, of sexually abusing them.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Defending national and Big 12 softball champion Oklahoma is an overwhelming favorite to win the conference crown in 2022. Big 12 coaches voted the Sooners No. 1 with six first-place votes.

OU coach Patty Gasso could not vote for her own team, so her first-place vote went to Oklahoma State, which is predicted to finish second in the league. Texas, Baylor, Iowa State, Texas Tech and Kansas round out the seven-team predictions. Kansas State does not field a softball team.

The Big 12 poll was released a day after OU and OSU were Nos. 1 and 3, respectively, in the preseason national ratings.

NBA: The Denver Nuggets acquired veteran wing player Bryn Forbes from San Antonio on Wednesday as part of a three-team deal that also included Boston.

The Nuggets sent injured players Bol Bol and P.J. Dozier to Boston, and the Celtics dealt Juancho Hernangomez to San Antonio.

The Spurs also will receive a future second-round draft pick from the Nuggets. The deal was first reported by ESPN.
