Oswego School District Announces 2019 Illinois State Scholars

183 students from Oswego East and Oswego High Schools' graduating class are Illinois State Scholars. Names below.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego Community Unit School District 308 announced that 105 students from Oswego East High School and 78 from Oswego High Schools' 2019 graduating classes have been recognized by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) as Illinois State Scholars. According to a release, the ISAC grants this prestigious recognition to the state's top high school students each year. The state agency is committed to helping college become accessible and affordable for families in Illinois, as Illinois State Scholars represent the top 10 percent of high school seniors across the state.

“We are very proud of the many students from both Oswego East High School and Oswego High School for receiving the distinguished recognition of being an Illinois State Scholars,” says Jamie Max, director of high school education, in a release. “These students are not only committed and dedicated to their academic achievements but are also great leaders and volunteers in our schools and community.”

Illinois State Scholars are chosen among students from 757 high schools across the state based on a combination of exemplary ACT or SAT test scores and sixth semester class rank, a release said.

In the Illinois State Scholar Program's 60th year, more than 21,000 honorees join the other top students who have been honored for their academic achievements since the designation was first introduced in 1958, according to ISAC.
