The Republican race for Otero County Magistrate Division 1 seat was too close to call and could be a recount race once all votes are tallied.

The District 1 race for the Republican ticket for District 1 Magistrate Judge is between Hannah Burleson and John Secrest III.

The Otero County Clerk's Office was still counting ballots Wednesday morning remaining ballots and officials were not ready to call the race as of 9 a.m.

Rev. Warren Robinson is the sole Democrat running for the District 1 Magistrate Judge seat.

The District 1 seat was formerly held by Steve Guthrie who resigned the position in April following accusations of 26 counts of judicial misconduct.
