OU football offseason player tracker: Keeping up with Sooners in transfer portal and bound for NFL

NORMAN — Since Lincoln Riley left OU and Brent Venables arrived, there has been plenty of roster movement with the Sooners.

Here’s a breakdown of who’s in and who’s out for OU, following the 2021 season:

Players with eligibility remaining leaving OU or entering transfer portal

Ben Harris, QB (TBD)

Harris is a redshirt freshman from Midwest City. He recorded 9,440 passing yards and 99 total touchdowns in his four years at Carl Albert High School before joining OU in 2021 as a preferred walk-on.

Noah Arinze, DL (TBD)

Arinze, a former three-star recruit from Kirkwood, Missouri, played in just one game over the last two seasons.

Brian Asamoah, LB (NFL Draft)

As a redshirt junior this season, Asamoah was the Sooners’ leading tackler, with 89 tackles. He also had two forced fumbles and a sack. Asamoah was a third-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings.

Nik Bonitto, OLB (NFL Draft)

Over the last two seasons, Bonitto has totalled 25.5 tackles for loss and 15 sacks. He was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year by Pro Football Focus as a redshirt junior this season and first-team PFF All-America and second-team Associated Press All-America in 2020. Bonitto went to the Denver Broncos in the second round.

Gabe Brkic, K (NFL Draft)

Against West Virginia on Sept. 25, Brkic became the first Sooners kicker to hit a walk-off field goal. Before declaring for the NFL Draft, Brkic moved into third place in career field goals with the Sooners, second in career field-goal percentage. He also finished with OU’s career record for PAT percentage at 99.4%, not missing an extra point until the Alamo Bowl, his final OU game. Brkic went undrafted but was signed by the Minnesota Vikings.

Kennedy Brooks, RB (NFL Draft)

Brooks topped the 1,000-yard rushing mark this season for the third time, rushing for 1,253 yards and 13 touchdowns to finish in the top 10 in OU’s career rushing list. Brooks signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent.

Pat Fields, S (Stanford)

Fields received an $18,000 post-graduate scholarship as a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy and will continue his education at Stanford, where he’ll finish his career after starting all 37 games over the past three seasons at OU.

Jeremiah Hall, FB/HB/TE (NFL Draft)

During his four seasons with the Sooners, Hall had 68 catches for 757 yards and 12 touchdowns and also ran for a score. Hall went undrafted but signed with the New York Giants.

Jadon Haselwood, WR (Arkansas)

Haselwood was the Sooners’ second-leading receiver this season, with 39 catches for 399 yards and six touchdowns before transferring to Arkansas.

Marquis Hayes, OL (NFL Draft)

Hayes started 37 games at left guard for the Sooners over the last three seasons. This season, he earned All-Big 12 second team honors. Hayes was a seventh-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals.

Cody Jackson, WR (Houston)

Jackson played in just two games last season as a true freshman, with five catches for 45 yards. He had three catches for 21 yards in the spring game before announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal shortly thereafter.

Latrell McCutchin (USC)

McCutchin showed promise as a freshman this season, forcing two fumbles in nine games. The Austin product started against Western Carolina but didn't play in any of the final four games.

Jamal Morris, LB (Houston)

Morris played eight games this season, primarily on special teams, finishing with three tackles. Morris has eight career tackles in 19 games.

Spencer Rattler, QB (South Carolina)

The Sooners were 15-2 in games Rattler started over the past two seasons before Caleb Williams supplanted him as the starting quarterback after taking over Oct. 9 vs. Texas. Rattler completed more than 70% of his passes at OU, including 74.9% this season.

Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge, DE/OLB (TBD)

Rawlins-Kibonge was expected to be a project-type player at OU, so it was no surprise that he redshirted last season. Rawlins-Kibonge was primarily a basketball player who played just 10 high-school games after taking up the sport late. He was previously committed to play basketball at Washington State and could return to that sport.

Tyrese Robinson, OL (NFL Draft)

Over the last three seasons, Robinson started 38 games for the Sooners, 23 at right guard and 15 at right tackle, including all 13 in 2021. Robinson went undrafted but signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent.

Austin Stogner, TE (South Carolina)

Stogner was a major threat in 2020, when he had 26 catches for 422 yards and three touchdowns before contracting a serious infection after an injury late in the season against Kansas. Stogner returned for the Cotton Bowl, then had 14 catches for 166 yards and three touchdowns in 2021.

Isaiah Thomas, DL (NFL Draft)

Thomas was a versatile piece of the Sooners’ defensive line the last two seasons, playing both on the inside and outside of the defensive front. Thomas finished his career with 18.5 sacks, tied for 13th in OU history. Thomas was taken by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round.

Delarrin Turner-Yell, S (NFL Draft)

The Hempstead, Texas, native led the Sooners with three interceptions this season. Turner-Yell finished with 52 tackles and a pass breakup this season, starting 10 of OU’s 13 games. Turner-Yell was a fifth-round pick of the Denver Broncos.

Caleb Williams, QB (USC)

Williams took over as the Sooners’ starting quarterback in October, throwing for 1,912 yards and 21 touchdowns with four interceptions. The former five-star recruit also ran for 442 yards and six touchdowns.

Mario Williams, WR (USC)

As a freshman in 2021, Williams was second on the Sooners in receptions with 35 catches for 380 yards and four touchdowns. He also averaged 21.6 yards on five kick returns this season.

Perrion Winfrey, DL (NFL Draft)

In two seasons with the Sooners, the Maywood, Illinois, product totaled 17 tackles for loss and six sacks. Winfrey had 11 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks this season. In this year’s Bedlam loss, he forced a fumble that resulted in a safety. Winfrey was a fourth-round pick of the Cleveland Browns.

Mike Woods II, WR (NFL Draft)

After transferring from Arkansas, Woods had 32 catches for 381 yards and two touchdowns during his lone season in Norman. Woods was a sixth-round pick of the Cleveland Browns.

Players transferring to OU

Davis Beville, QB (Pitt)

Beville played in nine games over the last two seasons, with his most extensive action coming in the Peach Bowl against Michigan State, when he went 14 of 18 for 149 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

General Booty, QB (Tyler JC)

Booty, the nephew of former USC quarterback John David Booty, threw for 3,115 yards and 25 touchdowns last season at the Texas junior college. Against Navarro last season, he completed 38 passes for 528 yards and eight touchdowns. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

LV Bunkley-Shelton, WR (Arizona State)

Bunkley-Shelton had 33 catches for 418 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore last season after recording four catches for 100 yards in the Sun Devils' abbreviated 2020 campaign. The Gardena, California, product was a four-star prospect out of high school, ranked by Rivals as the No. 16 wide receiver in the 2020 class.

C.J. Coldon, CB (Wyoming)

Coldon has started all 19 games over the past two seasons for the Cowboys. In 2021, he led Wyoming with 68 tackles and 10 pass breakups. He also added 4.5 tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery.

Dillon Gabriel, QB (UCF)

Gabriel threw for 8,041 yards and 70 touchdowns during his time at UCF, topping the 3,500-yard mark twice. In 2021, he started the first three games before being injured against Louisville. Gabriel initially announced he would transfer to UCLA before switching his commitment to OU in the wake of Caleb Williams’ decision to enter the transfer portal on Jan. 3.

Tyler Guyton, OT (TCU)

A 2020 TCU signee, Guyton spent some time at H-back last season, catching a touchdown pass against Iowa State.

Javian Hester, WR (Missouri)

The former Tulsa Booker T. Washington standout appeared in 13 games for the Tigers as a redshirt freshman last season, with 12 catches for 225 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Hester made his first career start in Missouri's Armed Forced Bowl loss to Army.

Jeffery Johnson, DT (Tulane)

Johnson had 44 tackles, four for loss, and 1.5 sacks last season for the Green Wave. He had six tackles against the Sooners in the season opener. He played 49 games over the past four seasons.

Jonah Laulu, DL (Hawaii)

The latest Sooners' transfer, Laulu announced his decision Thursday to commit to the Sooners. Laulu had four sacks this season for the Rainbow Warriors, starting seven games at defensive end and four at defensive tackle.

McKade Mettauer, OL (Cal)

Mettauer started 28 of Cal’s 29 games at right guard over the last three seasons. In 2021, he earned second-team All-Pac 12 honors from Pro Football Focus and was a coaches’ honorable mention selection.

Trey Morrison, DB (North Carolina)

Morrison projects as a safety for the Sooners, but has played virtually everywhere in the defensive backfield for the Tar Heels. In 42 career games, he has 163 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Daniel Parker Jr., TE (Missouri)

Parker had 41 catches for 337 yards and four touchdowns during four seasons with the Tigers. This season, he had 12 catches for 97 yards and three touchdowns, including two against Kentucky.

T.D. Roof, LB (Appalachian State)

The son of new Sooners defensive coordinator Ted Roof is on his fourth school, having started at his father's alma mater, Georgia Tech, before transferring to Indiana and then Appalachian State. Roof was the Mountaineers' fourth-leading tackler this season, finishing with 68 tackles, 10 for loss, and three sacks. He also had a pair of interceptions.

Kani Walker, CB (Louisville)

Walker played five games for the Cardinals as a freshman in 2021, with one tackle. Walker was a three-star prospect out of Suwanee, Georgia, in the 2021 class.
