OU football running back Kennedy Brooks is hoping to cap his career as an Oklahoma Sooner by being selected in the 2022 NFL Draft Thursday through Saturday, April 28-30.

Brooks, a native of Mansfield, Texas, started 17 of the 26 OU football games he played in during the 2019 and 2021 seasons. He opted to sit out the 2020 season.

Brooks graduated in 2020 with a criminology degree, and currently is pursuing a master's degree in construction science.

Kennedy Brooks had three 1,000-yard rushing seasons for OU football

Brooks rushed for a career-best 1,253 yards on 198 carries during the 2021 season, scoring 13 rushing touchdowns in the process. In 20918 and 2019, he gained 1,056 and 1,011 rushing yards, respectively.

Brooks received several honors during his OU football career, including:

• Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award semifinalist

• Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

• Second-team All-Big 12 Team

• USA Today Freshman All-American

• Pro Football Focus Second-Team All-American

Kennedy Brooks: 2021 Alamo Bowl MVP

Brooks was selected MVP of the 2021 Alamo Bowl after OU's 47-32 defeat of Oregon Dec. 29.

In the game, Brooks gained 142 yards on 14 carries.
