The case for the Sooners: History, both long term and short term. Long term, the Sooners lead the series 90-18-7. The Sooners have also beaten a higher-ranked Cowboys team five times — including last year's game — while OSU has beaten a higher-ranked OU team four times. The Sooners are 5-3 in Bedlam when the Cowboys are ranked higher. The Sooners haven't lost Bedlam since 2014. During their six-game winning streak in the series, OU has outscored the Cowboys 281-171. Oklahoma State certainly looks like the stronger team on paper, but the Sooners clearly have plenty of confidence against the Cowboys.

The case for the Cowboys: Defense. Defense. Defense. The Cowboys play lots of it, and at an elite level. They rank either second or third in most defensive categories nationally. The primary unit has not allowed a touchdown since Oct. 23 at Iowa State. In that span, OSU has outscored its opponents 165-23 in the past four games. It’s catapulted OSU into the College Football Playoff chase. And against an OU offense that has struggled more than shined, the Cowboys’ veteran unit is the difference maker.
