OU softball trounces UCLA at Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic

The second-ranked OU softball team throttled No. 1 UCLA as it cruised to a 14-0 five inning run-rule win Sunday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, California.

The Sooners (13-1) finished with 20 hits and six home runs.

Alyssa Brito, Jayda Coleman, Tiare Jennings and Haley Lee each had one homer, and Kinzie Hansen blasted two.

Alex Storako pitched the whole game, holding UCLA (17-1) to three hits and finishing with five strikeouts.

The victory capped a dominant few days for the Sooners. After losing to Baylor 4-3 on Feb. 19, they arrived in Cathedral City and went 5-0 from Friday to Sunday.

OU beat its opponents by a combined score of 50-4.

Oklahoma State women’s indoor track team wins first Big 12 title

The Oklahoma State women’s indoor track squad claimed its first Big 12 title in program history Saturday in Lubbock, Texas.

The Cowgirls finished with 146 points, while Texas placed second with 136½ and OU took third with 99½.

Oklahoma State’s Billah Jepkirui won the mile with a time of 4 minutes, 37.64 seconds.

On the men’s side, Oklahoma State placed second with 111 points. Texas Tech claimed the title with 159.

The Oklahoma State men had three individual champions.

Fouad Messaoudi won the mile in 3:57.27, Juan Diego Castro won the 1,000-meter race in 2:20.29 and Alex Maier won the 3,000-meter run in 8:04.77.

Oklahoma State softball tops UTEP

The fourth-ranked Oklahoma State softball team beat UTEP 10-6 Sunday in El Paso, Texas.

Tallen Edwards hit a three-run homer in a five-run third inning for the Cowgirls (13-1), and they stayed in control from there.

Ivy Rosenberry earned the win as she pitched the final four innings. UTEP (7-7) scored just one run when Rosenberry was in the circle.

Oklahoma State women’s basketball falls to Kansas

Kansas snapped the Oklahoma State women’s basketball team’s six-game win streak as the Jayhawks defeated the Cowgirls 66-57 Sunday in Lawrence, Kansas.

Kansas (17-10, 7-9 Big 12) led 38-33 at halftime and pulled away after outscoring OSU by eight in the third quarter.

Naomie Alnatas led OSU (20-8, 10-6) with 12 points. Anna Gret Asi had 11 points, and Taylen Collins had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Oklahoma State baseball run rules Loyola Marymount

The 15th-ranked Oklahoma State baseball team beat Loyola Marymount 11-1 in seven innings Sunday in Stillwater.

With the win, OSU improved to 4-3, while LMU fell to 3-4.

OSU’s Roc Riggio, Nolan Schubart and David Mendham each homered. Mendham led the Cowboys with a 3-for-4 performance.

Freshman Brennan Phillips earned the first win of his career. The lefty tossed six innings and allowed just one run and two hits. He struck out five.
