APPLETON - Rescuing wildlife isn't just for the birds, but something important enough to warrant official attention.

Outagamie County deputies got wildlife out of sticky situations in two incidents Thursday, according to the sheriff's department.

Three officers from the Courthouse Security Division found several ducklings inside a sewer outside the courthouse. One of them, Deputy Bart Barrington, climbed into the sewer to retrieve them while other county employees kept other nearby ducklings safe.

Also that day, Sgt. Ker Yang was dispatched to northern Outagamie County to find a injured bald eagle that may have been struck by a vehicle, the sheriff's office said. Yang brought the bird to the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary for rehabilitation.
